PCB announces new central contract, Babar Azam appointed ODI, T20 captain

 


LAHORE:   The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the central contract and captain of the ODI team for the season 21-20. Babar Azam will be the captain of the ODI and T20 teams for the first time. According to a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman, the central contract will take effect on July 1. National cricketer Babar Azam has also been appointed captain of the Twenty20 and ODI teams. Azhar Ali has been retained as the captain of the national Test cricket team while Babar Azam has been retained as the captain of the Twenty20 team for the upcoming season. Young fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed became part of the central contract for the first time. Abid Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaun Masood and Shaheen Shah Afridi's promotion, Iftikhar Ahmed are also part of the 18-member list. Haider Ali, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Hasnain are in the newly formed Emerging Players category.
